TarotReview: The Angel Tarot by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine

Talk about two powerhouses in the psychic and spiritual community!

These cards are a gentler retelling of the classic tarot.  Gone are the harder to swallow images like Death in the major arcana and the cutting edge of the minor arcana’s Swords suit.  In an effort to make the tarot more accessible and its messages more gentle, Doreen and Radleigh reimagined the tarot by their corresponding elements.

In the minor arcana, swords are replaced by air (it’s corresponding element in traditional tarot); the element of water replaces the cup suit; the element of fire replaces the wands suit; and earth replaces the pentacles.  This is not a bad thing as these are the elements they are associated with traditionally.

These cards are incredible for beginners as they have an inscription on the bottom of each, reminding you of the meaning of each card in a few words.

The major arcana corresponds with an angel or archangel.  The coloring and imagery I find to be a little muddied, busy, and a little melancholy, but beautiful nonetheless.  The cards come with a mini-guide book that explain the cards and their meanings.

I would recommend these for a more a beginner reader, provided they can remember each element as it is present in the original tarot.
