Aside from the Miss Cleo’s of the world, when most people think of psychics, they tend to think of a madam sitting in a tent giving readings over a crystal ball (as antiquated as that visual may be). Others immediately think of Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo, Sonia Choquette, Doreen Virtue, or Lisa Williams. But what of famous male psychics? Sure, there is Tyler Henry, James van Praagh, and John Edward, but does the lack of male psychics point to the fact that women are just more innately psychic than men?
Honestly, there hasn’t been any study or research into this that I’ve come across in all my years doing this work. Allow me to present a broad generalization that I think may serve to explain the presence of more female psychics. The biggest part of psychic phenomena is trusting your instincts and emotional side. As a man, I can say that the masculinity of some of us is quite fragile and trusting gut instincts and emotions can be seen as weak. The last thing a man wants to do is be seen as vulnerable. On the other hand, women are encouraged to both own and express their emotions and listen to their instincts.
In the western world, we tend to eschew anything that is not perfectly rational and discard that which is inexplicable, supernatural, or psychic. It is perfectly acceptable to tend toward peer-reviewed, empirical scientific data. However, if you share with others the idea that you also believe in psychic ability, many will simply dismiss and discard that notion as if to say that there are simply some things that science cannot explain. Do not misunderstand me—I am the biggest science nerd you will ever meet and I believe in the scientific method. I also believe that science is not the only way. No one method holds all the keys to truth.
That said, we are all born psychic and honestly, men are just as psychic, empathetic, and intuitive as their female counterparts. Heck, look at me! I’m a guy here doing readings and doing so with amazing feedback and accuracy! Do not discount a male psychic simply because he is male. There are cultures all around the world where psychic ability is not only respected but completely revered as both honored and sacred.
Whether you are male or female, psychic ability is truly being in tune with your intuition in such a way that you are close to Spirit and equally as close to your surroundings while on the Earth plane. It is my sincerest hope that one day the scientific method and psychic ability can see eye-to-eye. The government did use psychics as spies just a few decades ago so you have to at least consider that there is something to this psychic stuff.
