I hesitated heavily on writing this article because the concept of spiritual love is one that is difficult to understand but paramount to spiritual growth. We all know what romantic love is, but spiritual love is a whole other can of worms.
Spiritual Love
I’ll be the first to admit that while I can write on this and have this information from my Spirit Guide Sarah, I still sometimes struggle with showing true spiritual love.
See, spiritual love has absolutely zero to do with your emotions. How you feel and what’s going on with you has not one thing to do with spiritual love. In fact, spiritual love is quite selfless and asks to you to put your emotions aside.
Spiritual love is the idea of what you can do to help your fellow human (whether you know them or not) when you see that they have a need and it is in your power to do something about it, despite how you may feel about that human or situation. That person could just punched you in the mouth and cursed you out! But if you see them lying in the gutter one day and you simply step over them, revel in their plight, and move on, you have missed the concept.
Romantic love
This is the love that you have heard all the great divas like Whitney, Streisand, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey all sing about. This is the love that is all emotional and is complete with the butterflies in the stomach and the lovey-dovey eyes. They’re the vows you read at the wedding.
When people say things like, “he’s my other half!” or “she completes me” or even “our love is on a spiritual level”, this is all emotion centered. (There’s so much more I could say about finding another half or having another person complete you, but I’ll save that for coaching!)
I hope I was able to shed just a little bit of light for you on this.
Hey, I never said that spiritual love would be easy!
